Clifford Willingham

Clifford D. Willingham, 68, Emporia, died May 13, 2008.

Born Aug. 4, 1939, at Wichita, he was the son of Nathaniel "Bug" and Hazel (Willingham) Payne.

In 1957, he married Sherry Weems at Wichita. They later divorced.

On May 17, 1985, he married Melanie Crandall Hanes at Florence.

He was a small business owner for 35 years with business including a rock quarry, gas station, and gun shop. For the past five years he had been employed at Auto Zone, Emporia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Melanie of Emporia; four daughters, Teri Kresa of McPherson, Debra Shippy of Marion, Laura Ashmore of Killeen, Texas, and Molly Graversen of Garden City; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Cremation is planned.

A memorial service was conducted Friday afternoon at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, with Pastor Lee Hoskins officiating.

Memorial funds have been established with Newman Regional Health Foundation or the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund, in care of the funeral home.
