Community supports camera fund-raiser
Marion Fire Department should have a new thermal imaging camera by the end of the week.
Generous donations of more than $9,200 from donors and a community fund-raiser made it possible for the department to order the camera.
A soup supper and bake sale were held Friday evening at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Marion which resulted in $3,970 being raised. A collection was taken during Sunday services at the church. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans provided a $1,000 match.
More than 330 people signed a guest book.
Additional donations from Cooperative Grain and Supply, Land O'Lakes Foundation, and Marion Kiwanis Club provided the necessary money for the purchase.
Fire Chief Mike Regnier appreciated the support.
"This is unbelievable," he said. "Thank you all so much."
