LETTERS:   Councilman makes statement years ago

To the Editor:

First of all, I'd like to say I am not for secret government. I don't believe we should be conducting city business in secret.

At the April 22 Marion City Council meeting, I read a statement that needs to be shared with the public:

"No more than what this council, me included has accomplished in two years, the council might just as well stayed at three [members]. Two years ago the people of Marion voted for a change. It hasn't happened.

"There are no movers and shakers. Besides the council, the [city] administrator should be a mover and shaker. It hasn't happened.

"We need to get our heads out of the sand and get something moving with ideas, ideas, ideas.

"Are we ready for the challenge? Let's shift gears and get moving.

"I think the voters are waiting."
