County resident reports theft of guns, knives

At 11 a.m. July 20, individuals used a key to enter a victim's gun safe and removed three guns — a Norenko .45 pistol, a Smith and Wesson .22 pistol, and a .22 rifle — five knives, and nine VHS tapes. The incident occurred on Falcon Road. The loss was estimated at $750 by Marion County Sheriff Deputy Josh Whitwell.

At 10 p.m. July 21, individuals knocked down a mailbox on Alamo Road. Deputy Whitwell reported the victim replaced the damaged mailbox and individuals again damaged the mailbox. Individuals then made three telephone calls to the victim — each time hanging up. The third time they called, they left a message on the victim's voice mail.

At 2 p.m. Aug. 16, an individual stated she was struck with a crutch above the eye in the 300 block of South Freeborn, Marion. Marion Police Officer Howard Kahler filed the report.

At midnight Aug. 19, a married couple argued about some keys. One individual pushed the other and they wrestled for the keys. Deputy Whitwell investigated the incident.

At 2:57 a.m. Aug. 19, Marion Police Officer James Parmley reported he was following a pickup on East Main Street and observed the vehicle driving erratically. When the officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, Parmley noticed a smell of alcohol. There was a case of beer in the back seat and the driver admitted to drinking alcohol. The individual failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
