Crumbine is Kansas Day speaker

Kansas Day 2007 will be celebrated Jan. 29 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

The Kansas Humanities Council History Alive! Speaker will be William S. Worley who will portray Dr. Samuel Crumbine, secretary of the Kansas State Board of Health.

Crumbine initiated numerous health education campaigns such as "Swat the fly" and "don't spit on the sidewalk."

Worley is an adjunct professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is an historical consultant on Kansas City regional history, holding a Ph.D. in history from the University of Kansas.

United Methodist Women will serve a Kansas roast beef meal including home-baked wheat bread at each table.
