Deadline is Tuesday for candidates to file

Time is running out for those candidates wanting to be considered for city and school board positions.

At noon Tuesday, the period for filing for candidacy will be over for the April 3 election.

At press time, the following candidates have filed:

— Marion Mayor Martin Tice is seeking a second three-year term on Marion City Council. The mayoral position is the only council position on the spring ballot.

— Dan Ludwig, Venetia L. Miller, Joe Cleverly and Dorothy Cleverly have filed for a Florence council position in ward one. Ludwig and Randy Mills are in the two positions. Gary Nesser and Trayce Warner have filed for council positions in ward two.

— Edmund Slocombe has filed for Peabody mayor, and Steven Rose is seeking another term on the council.

— Tampa Mayor James Clemmer is seeking another term as mayor of Tampa.

— Anton Epp is seeking a position three Goessel City Council seat.

— Sherry Pankratz has filed for a position on Lincolnville City Council.

— Kevin Hill has filed for position seven (at-large) with USD 397 board of education. Jesse Brunner is the incumbent. Brunner has filed for position one currently held by Clark Davis.

— Anthony Zapone has filed for position seven (at-large) on USD 398 board. Gilbert Loewen is the incumbent. Gary Jones has filed for position three, currently held by William Spangler. Bruce Burke has filed for position one and Brian McDowell for position two.

— Kathy Meierhoff has filed for re-election in position two for USD 408 board, Christopher Sprowls for position one, and Sarah Cope for position seven (at-large).

— Roderick Koons is seeking re-election in position seven on USD 411 board.

— Darla Meysing has filed for position seven on USD 411 board of education. Maynard Knepp has filed for position two.

Positions up for election are:

Burns: Mayor, five councilmen, treasurer.

Durham: Mayor and five councilmen.

Florence: Mayor, ward one councilman, ward two councilman.

Goessel: Three councilmen.

Hillsboro: Mayor, ward one councilman, ward two councilman.

Lehigh: Mayor, five councilmen.

Lincolnville: Three councilmen.

Lost Springs: Mayor, five councilmen.

Marion: Mayor.

Peabody: Mayor, three councilmen.

Ramona: Mayor, five councilmen.

Tampa: Mayor, three councilmen.

Cottonwood Valley Drainage District: Three directors.

Positions in the five county school districts are positions one, two, three, and seven. Positions one, two, and three are based on school boundaries. The seventh position is at-large.

Marion and Peabody have made changes to their districts. Marion County Clerk's office will complete new district maps after the first of the year.
