Dean Fincham

Dean Fincham, 89, died Nov. 19, 2005, at St. Luke Living Center, Marion.

Born June 6, 1916, at Pratt, he was the son of George and Mary Fincham.

He graduated from Pratt High School and attended Kansas State University, Manhattan.

He joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, rising to the rank of lieutenant in the 13th Air Force, 42nd Bomb Group. He was a B-25 bomber pilot, flying 73 combat missions in the South Pacific.

He was a retired senior financial adviser for Waddell & Reed, retiring in April after 37 years of service. Prior to that he was a rancher in Pratt County.

He was an avid pilot and flew his own airplane through the spring of this year.

He was a member of Marion County Aviation Association FAA Chapter 1301, Order of Daedalians, and former airport manager.

He was a member of Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion.

In 1979, he married Johelen Beeman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Dena Reichardt.

Survivors include his wife, Johelen of Marion; three sons, Roy Fincham of Pratt, Richard Barnes of Milwaukee, Wis., and Greg Barnes of Santa Fe, N.M.; three daughters, Sara Haas of Pratt, Claudia Slicker of Tulsa, Okla., and Debra Thole of Kansas City; sister, Mar Jean Wyland of Lake Oswego, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Nov. 22 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church, Marion, with Pastors John Goering and Rick Branson officiating.

Memorial funds have been established with the church or St. Luke Living Center.
