Debaters compete
Marion High School debate team of Jon Nesser and Zach Helmstead defeated Manhattan and Goddard Saturday at the Emporia High School Invitational.
Nesser was the #1 speaker in three rounds. Helmstead was ranked the #2 speaker in two rounds.
Clay Riggs and Jake Bredemeier also competed.
Riggs was the #1 speaker in three rounds.
"This was a tough tournament and we represented Marion well," said coach Mary Griffith.
The next competition is this week at Haven.
