Dedications of all kinds

Dedications have been plentiful in October. First the unveiling of the statue at Marion County Park and Lake was well done and well attended. The stories told by men who had been a part of CCC were impressive. They were appreciative and felt that the work and small income saved them from disaster. The Beckhams are to be congratulated for the energy and hard work they put into this project.

The second dedication I attended was more of a consecration of the beautiful, melodious organ placed at Marion Presbyterian Church.

So sad that Christopher Reeve didn't reach his dream of being able to walk and to attain the freedom of action he longed for. I admire his wife too. She stood by her man through it all. I'm sure his optimism and determination will not be lost. Maybe it will urge the scientists to work harder than ever to find a way to repair spinal damage.

I read where the contract providing the "Miss America" contest to continue has not been renewed. Donald Trump, help! After all, we can't let that tradition die on the vine. Can we?

Marion County used to sponsor a girl to win the Miss Kansas contest which meant if she won she would go on to enter the Miss America contest.

Where are our boosters?
