Delbert Johnson

Delbert Keith Johnson, 77, died Nov. 4, 2004, at Herington Municipal Hospital.

Born July 4, 1927, at Herington, he was the son of Omar and Gladys (Solomon) Johnson.

He was a meat cutter in Cheney from 1951 to 1974 and worked as a night manager for Jack & Jill Store in Hutchinson from 1984 to 1988. He moved to Herington in 1988.

On Dec. 22, 1945, he married Clara Staatz at Herington. She died in 1995.

On Nov. 11, 1995, he married Adrienne Werle.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Chester Johnson; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Adrienne of Herington; a son, Donald Johnson of Hopkinsville, Ky.; two daughters, Kathy Armbruster of Hutchinson and Cindy Garcia of Idaho Falls, S.D.; a stepson, Guy Goff Groves of Wichita; two stepdaughters, Beverly Groves and Bobbie Jo Groves, both of Herington; a brother; six sisters; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, with the Rev. Alix Pridgen officiating.

Burial was in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

A memorial fund was established with Herington Municipal Hospital.
