Depler, Suffield receive district FFA awards

Marion/Florence FFA members Adam Depler and Braden Suffield received district awards April 24 at the annual south-central district FFA banquet at Wellington High School.

Depler was recognized as the south central district FFA Star in Agribusiness.

The Star in Agribusiness award was based on Depler's entrepreneurship supervised agriculture experience program in the areas of turf grass management and forestry.

Depler owns his own lawn mowing and lawn care business. He mows approximately 30 residential properties and five commercial properties. He also cuts and splits wood for local residents to purchase.

These activities, in addition to his involvement in the FFA chapter, led to his selection as district star.

He will compete in June for the coveted title of state star in agribusiness at the state FFA convention.

Depler also was recognized as the district proficiency award winner in the area of forest products and management in the entrepreneurship division.

He is the son of Dan and Danna Depler of Florence.

Suffield was recognized as a district proficiency award winner in the area of emerging ag technology in the entrepreneurship division.

Suffield's business, Zepher Printing, designs websites, promotional logos, and T-shirts for area businesses and individuals.

He will compete at the state FFA convention in June for the state proficiency award in this area.

Suffield is the son of DuWayne and Jodi Suffield of Marion.

The Marion/Florence FFA chapter received a superior chapter award for activities in the national chapter award program.
