Donald Horton
Donald Ross Horton, 83, of Council Grove, died July 8, 2007, at Indianapolis, Ind.
Born Feb. 17, 1924, he was the son of Lue and Bonnie (Roberts) Horton.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942-48 and retired from Dolly Madison in Emporia after 24 years.
On Sept. 23, 1949, he married Alberta Mae Johnson at the Johnson home at Dunlap.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Leland Horton and Dean Horton.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta Mae Horton of Council Grove; three daughters, Cheryl and Mike Connell of Marion, ReNita Rothe of Plainfield, Ill., and Roxanne and Ron Wooden of Council Grove; son, Brad and Gail Horton of Council Grove; two sisters, Wilma Bennett of Council Grove and Peggy Colby of Alamo, Texas; two brothers, Leo Horton of Warwick, R.I., and Guy Horton of Emporia; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church, Council Grove.
Burial with full military honors will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Council Grove.
Memorial funds have been established with the church or Council Grove Senior Center.
