Doris Hett

Doris M. Hett, 86, died Nov. 22, 2006, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born April 11, 1920, at Marion, she was the daughter of Philip and Anna (Propp) Stenzel.

She first attended school at Antelope. The family moved to Marion in 1930, where she attended school and graduated from Marion High School in 1938.

On Sept. 1, 1940, she married August Junior (A.J.) Hett.

The couple lived on the Hett family farm until A.J.'s death in 1985. In 1998, she moved back to Marion and had lived at St. Luke Living Center for the past two and a half years.

She was a member of Eastmoor United Methodist church, serving as pianist and choir accompanist. She was a charter member of the ladies' auxiliary to Ecker-Fulkerson-Slifer VFW Post #6958, serving as an officer for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Homer Stenzel; and one granddaughter, Rebecca.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Mick and Chris Hett of Aulne; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Bob Brookens of Marion; sister, FernEtta Hoover of Marion; and four grandsons.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Eastmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Eurit officiating.

Music for the service was pre-recorded by the Brookens family. All organ selections and accompaniment was by Anita Brookens.

Nathan Hoffman, Andrew Brookens, Justin Brookens, Michael Brookens, and Bob Brookens sang "How Great Thou Art." The congregation sang "Go Now In Peace."

Casket bearers were Nathan Hoffman, Andrew, Justin, and Michael Brookens, Eldon Wiens, and Royal Smith.

Burial was in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial funds have been established with Eastmoor United Methodist Church or St. Luke Foundation.
