Driver charged with traffic infractions in collision

Douglas Edward Gable, 45, was charged with running a stop sign and no seat belt as a result of a double-fatality accident that occurred Nov. 21, 2005, at the intersection of 190th and Nighthawk.

Gable was driving south on Nighthawk when he failed to stop at the intersection and struck a vehicle driven by Richard L. "Dick" Barber, 71, Marion, that was eastbound on 190th. Barber was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Frances Barber, 67, also was ejected and remained in serious condition until her death Feb. 26.

When contacted, Marion County Attorney Susan Robson stated, "A thorough investigation was conducted by myself and Keith Collett and determined no other charges would be filed."
