Drug arrests made by sheriff s department

At 7:28 p.m. Friday, Sergeant Jeff Soyez stopped driver Bryan T. Grosse at Pawnee and 190th. During a roadside investigation, Soyez found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Grosse was arrested for driving while license suspended, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, and was placed in Marion County Jail.

Soyez was at Coble and Weldon streets, Marion, Saturday when he observed a traffic violation. He stopped a 1984 Chevrolet driven by Michael Darrow. During his investigation Soyez found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Darrow was taken to Marion County Jail. A passenger in the vehicle, Michael R. Ball, 19, also was arrested for consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Undersheriff Randal Brazil responded Jan. 14 to a one-vehicle accident on U.S.-56/77 at milepost 311.4. Lacey Gilbert, driver of the vehicle, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, driving while license suspended, and child endangerment. Two children, ages four and six, were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Sheriff Lee Becker and Undersheriff Brazil assisted Social and Rehabilitation Services with a child abuse case on the west side of the county. Becker and Brazil executed a search warrant to follow up the investigation. SRS authorities placed the children in foster care during the investigation.

During the course of another SRS investigation, Sergeant Soyez confiscated a loaded .22 caliber rifle from a camper at French Creek Cove, Marion Reservoir.

At 7:18 p.m. Jan. 13 an individual was found unconscious in a van located on Sunflower, just south of 210th. The van motor was running. Afterward the driver admitted to being drunk and was arrested by Deputy Larry Starkey for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Sometime between 6 p.m. Jan. 18 and 8:45 a.m. Jan. 19 an individual threw a rock and broke out a window at the Durham Co-op, which is owned by Agri Producers, Durham, reports Undersheriff Brazil. Value of the window is $100.

An individual entered a vehicle registered to Brenda S. Martin, 208 Case, Lehigh, sometime between 6:45 p.m. Jan. 14 and 5:45 a.m. Jan. 15. Taken from the vehicle was Martin's purse and keys. The purse contained her driver's license, bank card, credit cards, and 15 negotiable personal checks. Value of the stolen property is $80, reports Undersheriff Brazil.

Between 6 and 10:37 p.m. Jan. 14 an unknown individual(s) broke the passenger side window of a vehicle registered to Charles A. Coyle, Canton. Taken from the vehicle which was parked at 406 East Maria, Lehigh, was a purse belonging to Ginger Sue Geisel of Gypsum. A vehicle belonging to Ruth H. Coyle, 406 East Maria, Lehigh, also was entered and a DVD player and cell phone were taken. Damages to the vehicle and value of stolen goods is $1,075, reports Deputy Starkey.

Three vehicles belonging to Gary Don Etheridge, 107 W. Kansas, Lehigh, were entered by unknown person(s) sometime between 8 p.m. Jan. 14 and 10:30 a.m. Jan. 15. Taken from the vehicles were two pair of sunglasses, binocular/telescope, an Ipod, Game Boy, three keys, and miscellaneous change. Value of stolen property is $490, reports Undersheriff Brazil.
