Earl Peterson

Earl L. Peterson, 83, lifelong resident of Burdick, died March 8, 2008, at Harry Hynes Hospice Center, Wichita.

Born April 7, 1924, at the family home in Burdick, he was the son of Iver and Stella (Hanson) Peterson.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

On May 4, 1947, he married Lois Schroer at Burdick.

He retired as owner and operator of Burdick Oil Company in 1988.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wendell Peterson and Marvin Peterson.

Survivors include his wife, Lois of Burdick; two sons, James Peterson and Philip Peterson, both of Burdick; daughter, Dianne Miller of Grand Junction, Colo.; twin brothers, Roger and Rolland Peterson, both of Burdick; sister, Marie Thornton of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held this morning (Wednesday) at Hebron Lutheran Church, Burdick, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating and military honors concluding the service.

Memorial funds have been established with the church or with Harry Hynes Hospice.
