Eastmoor congregation says farewell to Goerings

Eastmoor United Methodist Church said "goodbye" to the Rev. John and Beverly Goering June 11 with a farewell potluck dinner at the Wesley Family Center at the church.

The Goerings are retiring after serving Eastmoor 11 years and will move to Galva.

A program was held at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary. Guests came from all of Goering's previous churches that he served.

Many interesting and humorous stories were shared by former and present parishioners.

A quartet from Lewis United Methodist Church sang several numbers. The Rev. Rick Branson sang a solo and a piano-organ duet was presented by women of Lewis United Methodist Church.

On Sunday, Eastmoor will welcome their new pastor and family, the Rev. Mike Eurit, wife Joyce, and three children.

The family came to Marion from Oakley, where they served Oakley United Methodist Church. They will live at the new parsonage at 1023 Welch that recently was purchased by the Eastmoor congregation.

The public is invited to the Sunday worship service to welcome the Eurits.

Special music will be presented by the chancel choir and Todd Guetersloh will sing a solo.
