Eric Meyer to receive top award as professor

Marion native Eric Meyer, a professor of journalism at University of Illinois, has been notified that he will receive a first place award at the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication convention in San Antonio this month.

This year marks the first time the award has been offered for professors who supervise laboratory publications produced by students.

Meyer graduated from Marion High School, University of Kansas, and Marquette University. For 20 years he was an editor on the staff of the Milwaukee Journal and has been a professor at UI since that time. He also is director of academic operations in UI's college of communications.
