Family members compete in Minnesota marathon
It was a family affair Saturday in Duluth, Minn., when former Marion resident Teresa (Costello) Perky ran a marathon, and her husband David, sister Mickey (Costello) Lundy, and niece Bridget Lundy, all ran a half-marathon.
The race was the 31st annual Grandma's Marathon that included 6,982 runners in the full marathon and 6,105 in the half-marathon.
Teresa Perky, who in the spring completed the Boston Marathon, finished 1,428th overall with a time of three hours, 51.02 seconds. Her time was good enough for 298th place out of 2,564 female runners.
David Perky finished his race with a time of 2:05.57, and was 1,420th out of 2,328 male runners.
The Marion mother-daughter combo of Mickey and Bridget Lundy finished back-to-back in their race each finishing with a time of 2:18.06.
Mickey was 1,688th out of 2,934 female runners and Bridget was 1,689th.
Teresa and Mickey are the daughters of Ed and Mary Costello of Marion.
