Festival features quilt show

A quilt show is planned for June 3 during Marion's Chingawassa Days.

Quilts Across the Prairie 2006 Quilt Show will be presented by Country Stitchers Quilt Guild from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Mark's Activity Center, 415 N. Cedar Street, Marion.

Twenty-six quilters who are members of the guild will display their best and will include recent challenge projects of Civil War pieces, Christmas joy pieces, and Carrie Hall collection blocks.

A quilt boutique has been added to the show with vendors selling quilts and quilting products. A snack bar also will be available.

The show occurs every three years and is alternated between locations in Marion and Hillsboro. The show highlights accomplishments of members during the period between shows.

A drawing for a quilted wall hanging handmade by guild members, will be held at the show. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. The wall hanging is on display at Quilts and QuiltRacks, 130 N. Main, Hillsboro. Tickets can be purchased at the store or during the show.
