FFA chapter places third at dairy event
Members of Marion-Florence FFA Chapter placed third April 17 at the south central district FFA Dairy Career Development Event, hosted by the Hillsboro FFA Chapter at Marion County Fairgrounds, Hillsboro.
Contest participants were required to evaluate and place seven classes of dairy cows and heifers. They also had to prepare and present two sets of oral reasons as well as take a written test about the dairy industry.
Mark Kukuk placed fifth individually in the upperclassmen division. Other members of the A-team were Brad Klenda, Levi Carpenter, and Alycia Pontious.
Two teams also competed in the freshman division. The team of Frankie Clarke, Roxann Ross, Seth Banning, and Derek Riggs placed fourth.
The second freshman team included Gabe Moore, Jason Richmond, Alan Overton, and Larry Smith.
