Fire department to benefit Saturday from promotional event

Marion Fire Department volunteers will pump gas at Ampride, Marion, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday to acknowledge Ampride Customer Appreciation Day.

Donuts and coffee will be served from 6 to 9 a.m.

Hot dogs and fountain drinks will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by donation.

Ampride will have In-store promotions and prizes throughout the day.

Participating Marion Chamber of Commerce businesses will have a retail sales promotion from 1 to 3 p.m.

Beginning at 3 p.m. qualifying shoppers will receive sports bottles full of coupons from participating businesses. To qualify, shoppers must receive two receipts from chamber businesses between 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday. MAC fireworks receipts also qualify.

At 3 p.m. Ampride will host a watermelon feed in Liberty Park (next to Stone City Café).

Also at 3 p.m. fire department volunteers will host kids' games and provide an opportunity to "cool off" while getting sprayed by local firefighters.

An antique pedal fire truck will be given away. Tickets are available at Stone City Café.

All proceeds from the day's events will benefit Marion Fire Department. The money will be used to replace outdated bunker gear. One set costs about $1,300 and the department needs 10 replacements.
