First building planned for industrial park

Marion City Council voted 5-0 Monday evening to build a 10,000 square foot building in the city's industrial park, located on the south side of U.S.-56, between Eisenhower Road and Roosevelt Street.

The council recessed to a 20-minute executive session with city administrator David Mayfield, economic development director Jami Williams, attorney Dan Baldwin, and local business leaders Greg Carlson, Chris Costello, Nick Nickelson, and Mike Regnier. When the council returned to the open session, Bill Holdeman made the motion and Jerry Kline seconded it to begin development in the park.

The metal shell building will not have a floor. A lease-purchase agreement will be drawn with a local bank.
