Five hospital employees have babies in 4-month span

Staff reporter

There was a run on new babies at St. Luke Hospital and Living Center.

No, the hospital hasn't started delivering babies again. These are the employees having babies.

In four months' time, five employees had babies.

It started when Becky Hulett, a physical therapist assistant, gave birth Oct. 27, 2007, to daughter Madison.

A little more than a week later, Nov. 4, housekeeper Jenni Fredrickson delivered Eldon.

On Dec. 13, along came Clayton, the son of Mary Maloney, a physical therapist assistant.

Sydney was born Jan. 10 to Ashton Smith, a housekeeper.

And then last but not least, Brandi Williams, a member of the kitchen staff, gave birth Feb. 5 to Breane.

"It all started when Becky announced the good news," chief financial officer Hilary Dolbee said. "And then it was boom, boom, boom, boom. Five pregnant women."

The mothers and babies gathered April 30 at St. Luke Hospital to celebrate their new babies and to introduce them to other employees and long-term care residents.

Any chance of this happening again, so many employees being pregnant at the same time?

"You never know," Dolbee said.
