Florence Labor Day event to feature Fiddlin Jake Tanner

Jake Tanner Pritchard, 14-year-old fiddler, will perform Sept. 4 at Florence's annual Labor Day celebration.

He started learning tunes at the tender age of 5. Jake didn't wait long for his first gig, a command performance for his preschool class! At the age of 6 he hit the big stage when he opened for Steve Wariner in front of a sell-out crowd.

One month later, he won the local "Tru-Value Country Showdown" contest and opened for Marty Stuart at the Kansas Coliseum. The crowd of 10,500 gave him a standing ovation.

He has jammed with Charlie Daniels at a "Stars for Starkey" event at Century II, and has performed at numerous events including the Florida Cattleman's Association and most recently on national television for "FM Nation," a reality TV show broadcast on MTV.

Jake is currently an eighth grader at Valley Center Middle School.
