Former Centre coach honored by KBCA

Greg Wyatt has won a lot of basketball games in his career. Now he's being honored for his accomplishments.

Kansas Basketball Coaches Association gave Wyatt a plaque this past week, celebrating his 400th coaching victory this past year.

The head man of the Centre High School girls' basketball team for 14 years, won his 400th game Jan. 10 with a 66-36 defeat of Wakefield.

By the end of the season Wyatt amassed a total of 411 victories against just 190 losses. His contract was not renewed for the upcoming school year.

"I don't want to end [my coaching career]," he said. "This year, I guess it's a year off."

His focus now is on his position of third vice president of KSBA, which puts him in line for a presidential year in 2009-10.

Wyatt also has coached in Marion, Empria, and Ogden, Utah.

He is a 1979 graduate of CHS, and 1983 graduate of Bethany College.
