Fourteen of the 20 seniors who received diplomas Sunday at Centre High School were awarded scholarship trophies for maintaining a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher.

They were: Jenna Beneke, Dustin Burnett, Katie Carlson, Rachel Davis, Andrew Donahue, Victoria Engler, Ashley Griffith, Bryant Gutsch, Krista Heiser, Jackie Klenda, Jeremy Kristek, Megan Pauls, Tad Remy, and Dawnyele Rose.

Graduating with highest honors were Heiser and Klenda, who maintained a perfect 4.0 throughout four years of high school.

Other graduates were Steven Hageberg, Scott Peterson, Brent Potocnik, Josh Ryff, Gavin Shields, and Joseph Stroda.

Beneke, Carlson, and Klenda are members of the National Honor Society.

The high school band under the direction of instructor Kenneth Roe, played the processional and recessional.

The high school choir sang, "A New Beginning," by Audrey Snyder.

Seniors Klenda, Remy, and Davis briefly addressed their fellow classmates. A video produced by Klenda paid tribute to each member of the class.

Board of education president Clark Davis and board members Julie Klenda and Mark Heiser were on stage to congratulate the seniors, including their own daughters.

All graduates have plans to further their formal education: 11 at four-year colleges, four at two-year colleges, and five at technical schools.
