Frances Cook

Frances Cook, 92, of Florence died Dec. 18, 2007, at the Kansas Veterans Home, Winfield.

Born March 27, 1915, near Hereford, Texas, he was the son of George and Lillie Cook.

He joined the Marine Corps in 1941. He progressed in rank to Master Technical Sergeant, and was discharged in 1945.

On Jan. 3, 1946, he married Otilla (Tillie) Sevcik.

He taught school in Oregon before moving to a farm near Parker, where he developed a dairy. He returned to teaching in 1964, teaching at Parker High School, then at Florence High School in 1966. In 1977, he retired from teaching at Grinnell, and returned to Florence.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Tillie.

Survivors include his son, Robert Cook of Hutchinson; and two granddaughters.

Funeral services were Thursday morning at Florence United Methodist Church with Pastor Bethann Black officiating.

Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
