Frank Collins

Frank D. Collins, 86, lifelong resident of Herington, died May 25, 2004, at Lutheran Care Home.

Born April 19, 1918, at Herington, he was the son of Charles E. and Elsie D. (Halleck) Collins.

He graduated from Herington High School in 1936 and was a T/5 with the 1811th Service Command Unit, U.S. Army, during World War II.

On Jan. 13, 1951, he married Donna R. Fall at Herington.

He was a retired letter carrier with the Herington Post Office, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Clarey R. McClaren American Legion Post #12, and NARFE Chapter #1933, all of Herington.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Jolene Collins; a brother, Robert Collins; a sister, Irene Payne; and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; two daughters, Nancy Cox of Harmony, Minn., and Janet Smith of Salina; and one grandson.

An inurnment service was held Thursday afternoon at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Herington, with the Rev. William Marshall officiating.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
