Free assistance is available for tax returns
Free tax help and e-filing is available through Mid-Kansas Community Service.
A Mid-Cap representative will be available from 7 to 9 p.m. Feb. 7 at Hillsboro City Building to assist with individual tax returns.
Individuals should bring this year's tax package and/or label, all forms (W-2s and 1099s), information for all other income, information for all deductions and credits, social security card, driver's license, and a copy of last year's tax return if possible.
Mid-Cap is part of the Internal Revenue's VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program.
Assistance will be provided for basic tax returns, particularly for those with an income of $35,000 or below, individuals with disabilities, and the elderly.
