ANNIVERSARIES: Gene Dukes years ago
Gene and Shirley Duke of Durham will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. June 20 at the Durham Senior Center.
Gene Duke and Shirley Smith were married June 18, 1954, at the home of Dean and Joyce Duke in Hillsboro. Shirley is a Marion High School graduate while Gene is a graduate of Durham High School. After living in Wichita for a few years, they moved to Denver, Colo., where they made their home until 1999, when they both retired from the Boulder Valley school district. The Dukes now reside in Durham, but spend their winters in Texas.
They have one son, Terry, of Pagosa Springs, Colo., and two grandchildren who reside in Arvada, Colo.
Friends are invited to attend the celebration or send cards to the couple at Box 133, Durham KS. No gifts are requested.
