Get the ball rolling

Tampa STATE BANK should be commended for getting the new year started on the right foot. Their $10,000 donation to Marion Advancement Campaign is a great way to show commitment to a worthwhile project for the community.

Change is gradual. People sometimes get discouraged when projects aren't completed immediately.

MAC's community center/theater project is a good example. The foundation was established in 2004, the project was discussed, and fund-raisers were held.

When the initial excitement died down, people began wondering if the project was dead. What they didn't see was the behind-the-scenes efforts of committee members preparing the grant application and handling preliminary details.

The community center/theater project is alive and well. Future fund-raisers and other events are being planned. MAC will be asking for the community's help to take the next steps with the project.

Tampa State Bank got the ball rolling for the new year. Perhaps others will step forward with donations to make the project a reality.
