Give them a chance
A new city council takes office this week. Whether those councilmen will be advocates for all city residents remains to be seen. But we voted for them, put our trust in them, and count on them to be true leaders of our community. Time will tell.
With the exception of Mayor Martin Tice, we have a whole new council at the helm. We have to remember they are inexperienced and need time to learn the ropes. Give them a chance to get their bearings. Don't expect big changes overnight.
Let's give them that "honeymoon period" to adjust, then watch them settle in and get to work.
Don't forget, they work for us. However, they won't know our wants, needs, and desires unless we tell them. Keep the lines of communication open. They need to hear what we have to say.
