Glen Alexander

Glen Arthur Alexander, 83, died July 27, 2004, at Marion.

Born July 22, 1921, in McPherson County, he was the son of Arthur and Jesse (Blair) Alexander.

He attended school in rural North Diamond, several miles from the family farm. He graduated from high school at Zepher Hills, Fla.

On Nov. 20, 1942, he married Marjorie D. Green in Providence, R.I. To this union was born four sons.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, Alexander worked at the McPherson Flour Mill for a short time before beginning a 60-year career in oil field pumping and producing.

He was a member of Valley United Methodist Church and a life member of the VFW, serving as a post commander.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie; parents; and three brothers, Clarence, Elton, and Albert.

Survivors include four sons, Gary of Hopkinsville, Ky., Bryan of Herington, Norman of Newton, and Lance of Cedar Point; a brother, Raymond of Moundridge; and six grandchildren.

Services were Friday at Valley United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kennedy Mukwindidza officiated. Special music was provided by Michelle King. Bob Brookens was organist.

Burial was at New Gottland Cemetery. Mark Alexander, Matthew Alexander, Josh Alexander, Jeffrey Alexander, Trevor Alexander, and Jonathan Alexander served as casket bearers. Kayland Alexander was honorary casket bearer.

Memorial funds have been established with the church and St. Luke Living Center.
