Golden Living Center

"You are the Treasure of our Hearts," was the theme April 24 of the annual volunteer appreciation program at Golden Living Center, Marion.

The dining rooms were cleverly decorated with pirates and treasure chests and the menu was fish, salads, and an array of desserts. The local ministers as well as volunteers were given small gifts in grateful appreciation for their time.

Happy birthday to Lucille Wyss and Carol DeGraff, who celebrated birthdays in April. The Lutheran women graciously brought in cakes for the occasion.

We lost a resident, Ruth Goentzel, in April. She will be missed by all of us.

May will be a busy month with garden projects for the residents. There is a large patio area off the dining room that has two flower and plant areas. Many of the residents spend time out here planting, watering, and weeding the flower beds. They also can enjoy a cool drink as a pop machine is provided.

The van left for Lost Springs Friday for a lunch outing. Residents also enjoyed a ride in the country and around the lakes. These outings are great fun for residents.

If you have an hour or so, residents would love to have a visit. They all have such interesting stories to share. We encourage families to come visit as well.
