Golden Living Center

Residents of Golden Living Center have been busy helping the chamber of commerce by stuffing welcome bags. The bags contain a variety of pamphlets, buttons, "Tour Marion" booklets, and hats. They have filled more than 100 bags so far.

A "Life's Simple Pleasures" table is set up in the dining room, offering hot tea, cold tea, chocolate, and coffee drinks for the residents to enjoy anytime, as well as fresh popcorn in sacks, which the residents help keep filled. They enjoy this addition and many drink coffee throughout the day.

The craft table, which also is set up in the dining area, offers paint-by-numbers, puzzles, weaving, and an easel for anyone wanting to draw or paint. Residents seem to enjoy doing their own thing without it being a scheduled event. It helps pass the time in the evenings, with the days getting longer.

Those celebrating June birthdays include Emil Pospisil, June 5, Maryn Gleipsteen, June 10, and Mable Shaw, June 21. The monthly birthday party is held mid-month but often the families have parties for their loved ones and include the other residents. Lots of cake, ice cream, and fun for all.

The second Relay for Life benefit lunch was held June 10 at the Pilsen Community Center.

A fun Sunday was enjoyed when Crystal Deering's friends came from Chase County to entertain with songs and musical instruments.

Father Hien Nguyen came June 1 for Mass and blessing of the sick. The Catholic residents miss being able to attend church so we really appreciate Father Hien.

A group of residents went on a van ride Friday to McPherson for lunch and ice cream.

Area churches bring a church service for the residents on Sunday afternoons.

Come visit us anytime and bring your children or grandchildren.
