The music and movement group turned into an impromptu dance Thursday morning when some especially lively music was played. Several of the residents and staff decided to exercise by dancing. Everyone enjoyed the change of activity.

Monday was donut-tasting day as the kitchen provided a large assortment of fresh donuts. Chocolate long johns were a favorite.

The craft corner was in use several days this week as Tuesday the residents made turkeys of different designs and put them on their doors or in their rooms. Wednesday was spent making fall leaf pictures using real leaves from our beautiful maple trees around town. Hot apple cider with red-hots was enjoyed by all the crafters. The smell was delightful!

Dick Pracht was here for his Wednesday hymn sing and scripture readings.

Marjorie Sandwell returned to her home after two months of physical therapy at Golden Living Center. We wish her well.

We have two new residents in November, and we welcome them both.

The residents requested, and we now have, three bingo days — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The group gathers in the dining room for bingo and we welcome all visitors to join the group. Snacks and drinks are served during the games.

Lisa took the residents on a ride around Marion Thursday and on Saturday residents who were interested, ate lunch at The Big Scoop.

We had a "taste of pumpkin" event Saturday afternoon. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin bars, and pumpkin cookies were enjoyed by all, along with drinks.

Helmut has "news and views" each Friday where he reads articles out of the newspapers provided at the center. Many of the residents have lived all their lives in this area so they enjoy the news.

Our local churches that came Sunday afternoons this month were the Presbyterian, Good News Christian Fellowship, Emmanuel Baptist, and Strassburg Baptist.

The resident council met Nov. 12 and discussed the new menu that is now offered. They have two choices of meals at both lunch and dinner. Breakfast will be continental-style, offering hot or cold cereal, fresh fruits, bagels, donuts, or bread, and hot and cold drinks. This will give residents the opportunity to sleep longer in the mornings and eat breakfast when they feel hungry. All the residents are looking forward to the new arrangement.

Tuesday afternoon a commentary about a train trip through the United States and Canada was enjoyed by all. Many commented on those same areas that they had visited on vacations in earlier years. Popcorn and drinks were served while the commentary was showing.

Birthdays in November included Tammy Chizek, Norma Jean Goering, and Linda Stenzel. They were honored with the traditional "Happy Birthday" song, cupcakes, and punch. They all had a fun game of bingo following the celebration.

Helmut hosted the men's coffee Thursday, with a nice turn-out.

Lisa hosted ladies' tea Thursday, as well. Most of the ladies requested coffee instead. They discussed all the different spices they used in their cooking days.

Sharolyn was here Wednesday to cut, set, and perm all the ladies' hair and cut the men's hair. She always has a steady line of customers each week. We are all glad she makes the long drive from Hutchinson to serve our needs.

The fingernail lady is here two or three times a week to file, cut, and paint nails. The ladies are now looking at more fall colors to adorn their nails. The men also enjoy having their nails cleaned and cut.

Lora Hettenbach's son brings in his dog when he visits his mother. She really looks forward to his trips here from Salina and he comes often.

Our monthly potluck will be Tuesday. We invite families and friends to bring a covered dish and enjoy excellent food and entertainment.
