The Golden Living Center's Relay for Life team held a bake sale on Main Street Friday, kicking off the first fund-raiser for the annual cancer drive. Kathy Holub said more fund-raisers will be upcoming as their team is determined to walk way with the gold in 2007. Go team!

Residents enjoyed their own petting zoo when Helmut brought in baby goats last week and baby chicks this week. A permanent pet is a dog named "Baby." Baby gets a lot of attention from the residents.

Some of the residents said they wanted to be useful so the staff has Mr. Macy assisting with office duties, Darlene passes out the daily mail, and Juanita has been teaching crocheting to anyone interested. Ruth is one of her pupils but admits she is a slow learner.

Cherry Cobbler Day was May 17 and the residents ate warm cherry cobbler for their morning snack.

The kindergarten graduates visited Golden Living Center May 24 and put on a short program. The center then treated the class to a reception and gifts, followed by a potluck dinner. There was fun for everyone, not to mention the excellent array of food to feast on.

Nine residents went on the recent van ride that toured downtown Marion, Hillsboro, and Peabody. The group related stories about some of the old buildings in each of the towns. They all had ice cream and drinks at Peabody. The tour lasted several hours but all agreed it was a great afternoon.

Ralph Noriega entertained Saturday with his musical ability. Ralph is so good about sharing his talents with the whole community.

Be watching for the next Relay for Life event and get involved. We would love to hear new ideas, have more volunteers, and more visitors. Come see us.
