Hannaford honored by fellow Kiwanians

Roger "Bud" Hannaford of Marion was recognized Monday by Marion Kiwanis Club for his years of service with a Hixson Award.

Hannaford has been an active member of the Kiwanis Club for nearly 45 years and had served as president in 1967, secretary for more than 20 years, and lieutenant governor for division five in 1971-72.

George F. Hixson was the first president of the national Kiwanis orgnaization which began in 1916 in Cleveland, Ohio. Hixson was one of the great leaders in the Kiwanis movement and the only person to serve two consecutive terms as international president.

The George F. Hixson Fellowship is awarded to exemplary club members by the organization. Marion Kiwanis Club made a $1,000 donation to Kiwanis International Foundation in Hannaford's name.
