Harry C. Post III
Harry C. Post III, 64, of Addison, Texas, died Feb. 23, 2005.
Born March 13, 1940, at Neodesha, he was the son of Emily (Morgan) and Harry C. Post II.
He grew up in Marion and upon receiving a Scholarship Hall Award attended the University of Kansas before joining the U.S. Army in 1962.
He was stationed in Ethiopia from 1963-65 with the Army Security Agency. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to the University of Kansas and received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering in 1968.
He was employed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office in Washington, D.C. In 1970, he began studying law at the University of Kansas and while attending law school, took and passed the patent bar to become a patent agent. He earned a Jurist Doctorate from KU in 1973, and began work with Bausch and Lomb Inc., in Rochester, N.Y.
Since 1975, he practiced law in Texas as an intellectual property attorney, which involves international and domestic patent, trademark and copyright, unfair competition, and trade secret law.
He served on several committees of the Dallas Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the State Bar of Texas, including the state unauthorized practice of law committee, appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to chair the committee for 10 years.
He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 581 in Dallas, a member of the Patriots and Founding Fathers, and Sons of the American Revolution, and member and past president of the High Noon Club of Dallas.
Other memberships included Centre Lodge No. 147 of Marion; Claud L. Austin Lodge No. 1450 in Dallas; Dallas Chapter #47 RAM; Dallas Council N. 18 R&SM; Dallas Commandery No. 6, Knights Templar; Valley of Dallas Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Honorary, 33 highest degree bestowed a Free Mason; and Hella Shrine.
He and his wife Cecile traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Russia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Cecile.
Survivors include two brothers, Ronald Post of Wichita and Blair Post of Grapevine, Texas.
A public memorial service was held Monday afternoon at Claud L. Austin Masonic Lodge, Dallas, Texas, followed by a Rose Croix Service.
A private family service was held at Sparkman Hillcrest.
A memorial fund was established with Mercy Hospice, Lewisville, Texas.
