Harry Heiser

Harry Edward Heiser, 85, died June 6, 2005, at Salem Nursing Home, Hillsboro.

Born Dec. 1, 1919, near Ramona, he was the oldest son of John and Mary (Kleiber) Heiser.

He attended school in Ramona and graduated in 1937.

On May 10, 1946, he married Irma Vogel at Strassburg Baptist Church, where he was a member.

The couple lived and farmed near Ramona until 1951, when they moved to a Scully Lease south of Tampa.

He raised sheep, which he enjoyed showing at county and state fairs. He also raised Border collie pups and registered quarter horses.

In 1990, the couple moved to Hillsboro. After suffering a heart attack in 2003, he moved to Salem Nursing Home.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Schimpf.

Survivors include his wife, Irma; daughter, Mary Lou Seaman of Valley Center; son, Larry Heiser of Hillsboro; two sisters, Neva Heidebrecht of Lincoln, Neb., and Leona Fessler of Emporia; two brothers, Charles Heiser of Ramona and John C. Heiser of Herington; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 8 at Strassburg Baptist Church with Pastor Don Mashburn officiating.

Burial was in Lewis Cemetery, Ramona.

Memorial funds have been established with the church or Salem Home.
