Hayen files for county commission seat

Max Hayen, of Marion, has officially declared his candidacy for Marion County Commission district two.

Commissioner Howard Collett announced this past week he was not seeking re-election to the commission.

Other county officials who have filed for re-election are Carol Maggard, county clerk; Jeannine Bateman, county treasurer; and Faye Makovec, county register of deeds.

Randy Dallke of Peabody had previously filed for the district three commission seat.

Candidates who have filed for township positions are: Raymond Kraus, Centre treasurer; Edward Vinduska, Clark treasurer; Glennon Crowther, Durham Park trustee; Charles DeForest, Fairplay trustee; Marvin Meisinger, Gale treasurer; Lori Herzet, Grant treasurer; Ronald Unruh, Logan trustee; Dr. Robert L. Novak, Lost Springs treasurer; Duane L. Duerksen, Menno treasurer; Loren Enns, Risley trustee; and Douglas M. Brewer, Summit trustee.

Precinct committee candidates who have filed for positions are: Walter E. Norman and Betty A. Norman, Centre township; Roy Houdyshell and Judy Houdyshell, Clear Creek township; Gary Spohn and Carole Spohn, Colfax township; Alice D. Hayes, Doyle township; Janet Bryant, Marion north; and Bob Hein, Hillsboro first.

Two improvement districts have candidates but only will be on the ballot for the general election. James Lee Christensen and Donald Rock, Eastshore; and Dan Crumrine, Marion County (Park and Lake) Improvement District #2.

The deadline for candidates to file is noon June 10 at the county clerk's office.

The primary election will be Aug. 3 and the general election will be Nov. 2.
