Helen Logan

Helen Logan, 94, died June 21, 2006, at Lawrence.

Born Aug. 1, 1911, at McFarland, she was the daughter of Charles and Rose (Kugler) Meinholdt.

In 1938, she married Richard Logan at McFarland. He died in 1990.

She moved to Topeka in 1932, and Lost Springs in 1947, where she and her husband owned a restaurant and grocery store for 20 years. In 1970, she moved to Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Logan.

Survivors include a daughter, Caroline Salaty of Lawrence; son, David Logan of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Esther Akers of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four brothers, Leo Meinholdt of Asheville, N.C., George Meinholdt of Lawrence, Lewis Meinholdt of Bethany, Mo., and Frank Meinholdt of Wamego; and three grandchildren.

A private family service was held in Lost Springs Cemetery, Lost Springs.

Memorial funds have been established with Douglas County Visiting Nurses Association, American Heart Association, or American Diabetes Association.
