Helen Schwartzman

Helen Marie Schwartzman, 98, died Jan. 14, 2005, at St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

Born Aug. 18, 1906, near Lost Springs, she was the daughter of A.J. and Fannie Pospisil.

On Nov. 12, 1928, she married William Schwartzman. The couple lived on a farm two miles east of Tampa.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and was a welcoming neighbor to anyone who came to her door.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, Tampa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Virginia; and sister, Irene Krch.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Jean McGonigle of Wichita and Geraldine Noonan of Dallas, Texas; three sons, John Schwartzman of Salina, Leroy Schwartzman of St. Louis, Mo., and Wayne Schwartzman of Wichita; a brother, Emil Pospisil of Wichita; four sisters, Evelyn Strecker of Lost Springs, Stella Kohler of Silver Spring, Md., Victoria Zell of Shelby, Mont., and Lorena Pospisil of Libuse, La.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The rosary was recited Sunday evening at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion with Father Mark Weseley as rosary leader.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish, Holy Redeemer Church, Tampa, with Father Norbert Dlabal and Father Steve Gronert as concelebrants.

Dean Patton was lector. Mass servers were Alex Hajek and Sean Leihy.

Music was provided by the Holy Redeemer Choir and Jeanne Rziha as organist.

Casket bearers were Brady McGonigle, Tom McGonigle, Joel Schwartzman, John Matthew Schwartman, Todd Noonan, and Justin Schwartzman.

Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, Tampa.

A memorial fund has been established with Holy Redeemer Church Altar Society.
