Helmer to take over at Butler
Mike Helmer, a 1990 Marion High School graduate, recently was named head women's basketball coach at Butler Community College.
The former Wichita South head coach was 47-23 the past three years, leading the Titans to the 6A state tournament twice, including a runner-up finish in 2006.
Helmer, his wife Kristina, and two-month old son Anderson, reside in Wichita.
He is the son of Roger and Sally Hannaford of Marion, and the grandson of Luella and Jerry Harp and Bud and Lavonne Hannaford, all of Marion.
