Henry Collett descendants attend reunion
Descendants of Henry and Carrie Houston Collett of the Elk community held their annual reunion Oct. 8 at the recreation hall, Marion County Park and Lake.
Officers Collette Erickson and Beth Collett organized the event.
Following a potluck meal, officers conducted a business meeting. Keith Collett and Anita Sly were elected as 2007 officers.
Shirley Bowers shared an interesting obituary and a 1909 scrapbook kept by Ethel Phillips. Deanna Talbott auctioned "white elephant" articles for meeting expenses and entertainment.
Forty-one family members were in attendance.
Those from out-of-town included: Collette and Rick Erickson, Chapman; Marge Talbott and Kim Ashley, Halstead; John Umberger, Elmdale; Clarice Hammer and Vernon and Jeanne Owens, Olathe; Kenneth and Anita Sly, Salina; Brad Talbott and Deanna Talbott, Wichita; Bill and Roma Skaggs, Topeka; and Ron and Rebecca Wager, Alec and Kira, Overland Park.
