Henry H. Murray

The Rev. Henry H. Murray, 84, of Newton, died Sept. 29, 2005, at Special Services Hospital, Wichita.

Born March 19, 1921, at Las Animas, Colo., he was the son of David and Ina (Mabuce) Murray.

On May 29, 1945, he married Helen Farrar at Norwich.

He graduated from Southwestern College, Winfield, then attended Drew Theological Seminary at Madison, N.J., where he received his master of divinity.

He was a member of the Kansas West Annual Conference and Newton Lions Club, receiving the Melvin Jones Award in May.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Newton; son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Nancy Murray of Kimberling City, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and George Mulholland of Gaithersburg, Md.; sister, Virginia Hughes of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Newton, with the Rev. Phil Fischer officiating.

Burial was in Upchurch Cemetery, Norwich.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Henry and Helen Murray Endowed Scholarship Fund of Southwestern College, Winfield.
