Hett s heroics give Wildcat girls a lift

Lindsay Hett scored 22 points Saturday, 20 in the first half, to lead the Marion Middle School Wildcats A-team to a 43-29 victory against Hoisington.

Hett nailed nine baskets, including three three-pointers, and one free throw.

Kristen Steinborn was the next leading scorer for MMS with eight points. Kristen Geis had four points, Emmali Kelsey three points, and Julia Zeiner, Bridget Lundy, and Emily Meador each had two points.

The B-team edged out a victory against the Cardinals, 21-20. Donna Cady was the top-scorer with six points. Danae Edwards had four points, Shanna Kline three, and Raelene Allen, Tiffany Christensen, and Sarah Freeby each had two points.

The C-team battled hard but fell by three points, 24-21.

Eight girls scored for MMS. Ashley Ratzloff led the team with eight six points. Sarah Guetersloh was next with four points. Shayla Rahe, Allen, Emily Hett, Melissa Carlson, and Kayla Williams each had two points. Alex Cain chipped in with one point.

MMS B-team participated Jan. 14 in the Gridley tournament.

The girls were defeated by Gridley 22-20 in the first round. A balanced attack had Cady lead the team with six points.

Shelby Purcell had four points, and Freeby and Christensen each added three points. Herzet and Emily Hett each made a basket.

MMS defeated Yates Center handily, 21-8.

Another balanced attack had Purcell, Kline, and Cady all score four points.

Allen, Hett, Christensen, and Herzet each had two points, and Anna Laurin had one.
