Hilltop residents surprise Carlsons on 50th anniversary years ago

Hilltop Manor residents gathered May 15 for their monthly fun night and birthday party. They celebrated the birthdays of Jeanne Maki, Elsie Burkholder, Les Broadstreet, and Bob Richmond.

Residents also surprised director, Shirley Carlson and husband Gary with a celebration in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary.

Following the evening meal, Rhonda Schinnerer and Norma Widler escorted the Carlsons to the west room of the community center which had been set up for a "birthday party" for Wanda Richmond.

Upon their arrival, the Carlsons were surprised to see a three-tier cake, baked and decorated by Madonna Schafers, punch, ice cream cups, nuts, and mints.

Residents presented the Carlsons with a 16x20 gold frame with an embroidered message from their Hilltop family.

Those attending were Jane Makovec, Olinda Kline, Irene Kinsey, Ivanlee and Mary Ann Timm, Bob Richmond, Patrick Tajchman, Elsie Reiswig, Madonna Schafers, Nora Richter, Nora Ann Spence, Jeanne Maki, Jim Helfer, Sue Clough, David Helmer, Les Broadstreet, Al and Gloria Ash, Aline Bernhardt, Jim and Donna Fruechting, Carla Carlson, Marjorie Kohls, Rhonda Schinnerer, and Norma Widler.
