Historic currency on display at local bank

A piece of American history currently is on display through Thursday at Marion National Bank, 302 E. Main, Marion.

A historic currency exhibit features historic notes and coins on loan from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.

The display traces currency from the colonial period through current day, focusing on currency of major historical significance, including State Bank Notes, Fractional Notes, and Gold Certificates. The display also features Demand Notes, the currency that led some to refer to bills as "greenbacks."

The display is made available by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and its branches in Denver, Oklahoma City, and Omaha that serve the 10th Federal Reserve District which includes Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Wyoming, northern New Mexico, and the western third of Missouri.
